Red Hook Town Board approved water rate increases and authorized nearly $900,000 in water infrastructure contracts.

(1) Town Board · Meeting of May 27, 2026

NY RED HOOK — Red Hook Town Board approved water rate increases and authorized nearly $900,000 in water infrastructure contracts. Councilmember William Hamel moved a 5-0 vote to increase Water District No. 1's minimum quarterly rate from $57.33 to $68.00 for up to 9,000 gallons, with overage charges rising from $6.95 to $7.56 per 1,000 gallons, effective July 1. The Board awarded a $34,452 contract to Claverack Well & Pump Service, Inc. for Well No. 1 rehabilitation and a separate $871,000 contract to U.S.

Tank Painting, Inc. for water storage tank rehabilitation. In a separate 4-1 vote, the Board adopted Local Law No. 1 of 2026, amending the Community Preservation Plan to authorize the acquisition of Water District No. 1 surplus properties, with Councilmember Kenneth Migliorelli voting no, arguing the Board does not need to purchase the properties and that conservation easements would suffice.
